Trade Fairs in Germany: An Exhibitor’s Guide
Germany’s trade fairs cover very different buying decisions, from comparing fabrics to evaluating industrial equipment. Start with your sector and the type of conversation you want at the stand, then use the organiser’s categories to narrow the choice of exhibition, hall and participation format.

Match the fair to your product and your sales process
An exhibition is easier to prepare for when your team agrees on its purpose. You may want distribution partners, project enquiries, feedback on a new range or meetings with existing customers. Each objective changes the products you bring, the information you publish and the balance between open displays and meeting space.
The examples below provide a starting point across Hannover, Frankfurt, Cologne and Munich. They are different sector platforms, so compare the relevant product categories before requesting space. Ask how your proposed range fits the exhibition and review the available stand locations against your display requirements. A booth suitable for sample books may be unsuitable for a working machine, even when the floor area is similar.
After the event and space are confirmed, Flex Event can prepare a stand brief, graphics schedule and equipment list. Venue requirements belong in that preparation from the beginning. For example, Messe Frankfurt’s constructor information directs exhibitors to technical guidelines and notes that event-specific requirements may differ. We use the documents for the actual exhibition when defining the proposed work.
Five sector examples and the next planning step
Industrial technology — HANNOVER MESSE, Hannover
The exhibition includes automation and digitalisation. If you are showing a component, machine or industrial software product, decide how much of its operation visitors need to see. Demonstration space, technical staff and time for detailed questions should influence the stand brief from the start.
Home textiles — Heimtextil, Frankfurt
Heimtextil covers home and contract textiles and textile design. Build a display around the way buyers compare your range: by application, collection, colour or material. Keep additional samples accessible so a promising conversation can continue without leaving the meeting table unattended or searching through shipping boxes.
Food and beverage — Anuga, Cologne
Anuga groups food and beverages into distinct trade shows. Use the relevant section to assess your fit, then define whether your presentation involves packaged goods, samples or tasting. If products are shipped internationally, appointed specialists should review the handling and import requirements for those particular goods before dispatch.
Consumer goods — Ambiente, Frankfurt
Ambiente covers consumer goods, including dining, living and giving. Table settings, shelf displays and product collections each tell a different story. Choose a presentation that helps a buyer understand the range, then provide a place to discuss quantities, finishes and delivery questions without blocking the display.
Solar technology — Intersolar Europe, Munich
Intersolar Europe is a solar industry exhibition at Messe München. Consider whether to exhibit full-size products, smaller components or a working explanation supported by video. Product dimensions, weight and connection needs should reach the design team before the layout is settled, rather than appearing as changes during production.
From the chosen fair to a clear brief
Bring together the confirmed space plan, product list, demonstration needs, team size and budget range. We can turn these into a proposed stand layout and service scope, with production tasks, equipment requirements and local supplier responsibilities identified before you approve the work.
